Follow us on LinkedIn – Nuclear imaging procedures are generally employed to detect cancerous growths, for the prognosis of susceptibility to brain disorders, and for the clinical assessment of cardiac risk. Rising incidences of cardiac arrests and brain disorders, increasing propensity to acquire cancerous growths and ageing population are resulting in heightening health concerns and popularizing preventive medicine among the medical fraternity and patient groups. Economic resurgence, improving healthcare scenario, and rising personal disposable incomes are presenting opportunities for the medical technology companies to capitalize in these under-penetrated markets. Product wise, Gamma Cameras represents the largest product segment. Displaying a CAGR of 3.5% over the analysis period, Nuclear medicine patient tables is the fastest growing product segment. Nuclear cardiac procedures and alarming propensities to malignant cancerous growths are driving the market.

The Art of Living Foundation Celebrates 30 Years of Education and Service

The Art of Living Foundation Celebrates 30 Years of Education and Service

Washington, DC (PRWEB) November 18, 2011

The Art of Living Foundation (AOLF),an educational and humanitarian non-profit announced today that it has completed 30 years of education and service bringing happiness, peace and development to individuals and communities in the United States and the world as a whole. The Foundation, which offers stress management and self development programs, in partnership with International Association for Human Values (IAHV) has worked on several initiatives related to health, education, sustainable development, conflict resolution, disaster and trauma relief, prisoner rehabilitation and women empowerment to positively impact millions of people in more than 150 countries over the last three decades.

Founded in 1981 by global humanitarian and peace ambassador, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, the Foundation offers programs that are specially designed by him to improve emotional and physical well being. Sri Sri has rekindled the traditions of yoga and meditation and offered them in a form that is relevant to the 21st century. Unique breathing practices, effortless meditation and ancient wisdom allow individuals to deal with stress and angst of the modern world in a practical and effective manner. Sri Sri has been engaged in promoting human values, fostering interfaith harmony, building communal unity, encouraging social responsibility and spearheading humanitarian causes around the world.

“All of us must realize we are one world family – and that we belong to one humanity as we celebrate the diversity of different cultures and traditions,” said Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Founder of the Art of Living Foundation. “Our 30th anniversary is a big milestone that shows many of our achievements, and inspires us to move forward with greater speed and enthusiasm to do more service.”

The Foundation celebrated its 30th anniversary in a unique celebration of harmony in diversity when it organized a peace festival, World Culture Festival, in Berlin, July 2-3. This festival brought thousands of participants from 151 countries to spread the message of global peace, intercultural dialog and togetherness.

In the United States, the Foundation offers a wide variety of programs for all ages. Meditation is a common theme across all these programs. Sudarshan Kriya®, a powerful breathing technique that incorporates specific natural rhythms of the breath that harmonize the body, mind and emotions is taught to the participants who are able to discover inner reservoirs of energy and peace in their daily life. Several research studies point towards the benefits of this technique. Expanding its footprint in the U.S, the Foundation, in collaboration with IAHV and Ved Vignan Mahavidyapeeth (VVM) will soon offer self-development workshops for adults, corporate retreats, leadership development for young adults, summer camps for children, specialized programs for returning veterans and international cultural events through the new facility called International Center for Peace and Well-Being in Boone, NC.

More than 50 high schools have benefited from Youth Empowerment Seminar (YES!), a program of IAHV. This compelling program offers the youth practical tools and life skills to manage stress and addresses a critical issue of education today. As students learn to reduce stress and manage emotions they gain the ability to focus and perform well academically at school, as well as the ability to build more positive relationships with their peers, parents and teachers.

The Art of Living Foundation provided material aid and trauma relief to more than 2,000 people after Hurricane Katrina, and its Youth Leadership Training Programs continue to make a difference in New Orleans. In New York City, the Foundation offered free trauma-relief programs to thousands after 9/11. The trauma-relief programs are also being offered to US Iraq war veterans and their families.

About the Art of Living Foundation:

Founded in 1981, the Art of Living Foundation is nonprofit 501(c)(3) educational and humanitarian organization working in special consultative status with the United Nations Social and Economic Council. One of the world’s largest volunteer-based organizations, the Foundation is present in more than 150 countries and works to create a violence-free, stress-free world by strengthening the individual.

Brand Drug ?Copay Coupons? Undermine Generics, Raise Health Costs by $1.8 Billion in Pennsylvania

Brand Drug ‘Copay Coupons’ Undermine Generics, Raise Health Costs by .8 Billion in Pennsylvania

Washington, DC (PRWEB) November 17, 2011

The proliferation of brand drug “copay coupon” promotions, which lure insured consumers from generics to more expensive brands, will increase costs by .8 billion in Pennsylvania over the next decade for employers, unions, and state employee plans, according to new research from Visante and released by the Pharmaceutical Care Management Association (PCMA). The use of these promotions by state and local government workers alone will cost Pennsylvania taxpayers an extra 7 million over ten years.

Click here to read the study

Unlike groceries and other goods that are purchased directly by consumers, 2/3 of prescription drug costs are paid by the employers, unions, and government agencies (i.e., taxpayers) that provide coverage, not consumers themselves. Though banned as illegal kickbacks in federal health programs, copay coupons are unregulated in the commercial market (except Massachusetts).

To minimize premiums and reduce costs, those who offer prescription drug coverage assign higher copays to expensive brands and lower copays to more affordable drugs that treat the same condition. In response, drug companies now offer coupons that cover the higher copays but not the cost of the actual drug. By covering a copay to sell a 0 brand, drug companies extract an extra 0 from the employer, union, or government agency that offers coverage. This helps explain why copay coupons target only those with insurance (i.e., those who pay copays), not the poor or uninsured.

“Brand copay coupons lure patients from generics to expensive brands and stick employers, unions, and government employee health programs with the extra costs,” said PCMA President and CEO Mark Merritt. “In Pennsylvania, taxpayers will pay an extra 7 million just to cover the use of brand copay coupons by government workers in state and municipal employee health programs.”

Drug companies profit from coupon promotions in several ways:

Copay coupons induce consumers to choose higher-cost brands (despite higher copays) over lower-cost competitors (despite lower copays). When consumers redeem copay coupons, the drug companies process them through a “shadow claims system” that prevents employers and other plan sponsors from knowing when enrollees have used them.

Drug companies often require consumers to submit confidential, personal information in order to redeem copay coupons. Manufacturers have long sought (but found difficult to obtain) such sensitive patient data, which enables them to identify and directly target individual patients with “brand loyalty” marketing programs.

Coupons can also increase consumer costs in several ways:

To help cover the billion spent annually on copay coupons nationally, manufacturers can simply raise prices. Manufacturers reportedly earn a 4:1 to 6:1 return on investment (ROI) on copay coupon programs.
Copay coupons create “brand loyalty” to the most expensive products in each therapeutic class of drugs, even among newly diagnosed patients.

Just in Time for Hunting Season, Cabela?s

Just in Time for Hunting Season, Cabela’s® Launches Pet Insurance Service for Sporting Dogs

Cabela’s, a leading specialty retailer, and the world’s largest direct marketer of hunting, fishing, camping and related outdoor merchandise, has launched Cabela’s Pet Insurance.

Beachwood, Ohio (PRWEB) November 17, 2011

Cabela’s, a leading specialty retailer, and the world’s largest direct marketer of hunting, fishing, camping and related outdoor merchandise, has launched Cabela’s Pet Insurance™. Designed specifically for dogs used for hunting and outdoor sports, Cabela’s Pet Insurance insures active dogs against costly accidents and illnesses by providing fast and worry-free reimbursement for veterinary and emergency bills. And, for peace of mind, Cabela’s Pet Insurance is backed by insurance that’s A+ rated by A.M. Best.

Every year, more than 1 in 3 pets falls ill or is injured. And while it’s amazing what veterinarians can do for our pets these days, a visit to the emergency room can quickly start to add up — to hundreds or even thousands of dollars. Many pet owners are not prepared financially to afford the level of care that modern veterinary medicine provides. Hunting and sporting dogs are particularly susceptible to many hazards, including gunshots, snake bites, muscle strains, lacerations, puncture wounds, car accidents, animal attacks, infections, heat stroke and injuries associated with scampering around in fields and forests.

Cabela’s Pet Insurance is managed by Embrace Pet Insurance, the country’s top-rated pet insurance company. Embrace was founded by dedicated pet parents who are on a mission to change the pet insurance business by making it affordable, dependable and predictable.

“When we talked to owners of sporting dogs, we were surprised by how much time and money they invest in their pets. Generally, these are expensive, purebred dogs with an extensive pedigree, that have been through years of costly training,” said Laura Bennett, CEO of Embrace Pet Insurance, the company that is backing Cabela’s Pet Insurance. “Unlike average pets, these dogs work very hard in the field and have an essential role in the pursuit of a sport. So it makes perfect sense to protect these dogs from the injuries such as a torn anterior crucial ligament (ACL) or a foxtail lodged in the nose.”

What is pet insurance and how does it work?

Pet insurance is gaining popularity with pet owners who never want to choose between an expensive veterinary treatment and their pet’s life. Just because your pet is happy and healthy today, doesn’t mean things will always be that way. Pet insurance helps you prepare for any eventuality. Unlike medical insurance for humans, Cabela’s Pet Insurance is quite simple. Pet owners may visit any general, specialist or emergency veterinarian when an accident or illness occurs. They pay the veterinarian and complete a claim form with the office staff. This is then submitted for reimbursement of the veterinary bills. Find out what is covered here.

Socialive Launches to Revolutionize Live Blogging & Place-Based Social Media

Socialive Launches to Revolutionize Live Blogging & Place-Based Social Media

Toronto, Ontario (PRWEB) November 15, 2011

The world of live blogging and social buzz has just been streamlined. The new social content platform, Socialive (http://socialive.me/), not only lets businesses and publishers cover every aspect of live events on their websites and Facebook Pages; it also offers them a variety of branding opportunities and revenue channels.

Socialive allows users to broadcast, control and filter content for both one-time live events (i.e. concert or sporting event) and developing stories. The coverage content created can then be displayed on any website or Facebook page using a brandable dashboard or widget, or in the form of onsite digital signage to engage live event participants

“With everyday people photographing, filming, and Tweeting what they see and hear, stories go so much deeper than a single journalist’s or blogger’s angle,” said Sean Rosenthal, President of Socialive. “So we wanted to build a tool that does “live blogging” and can also aggregate what everyone else is saying. And so we give you Socialive.”

Socialive fully supports Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Vimeo, and live streaming video, allowing publishers to create rich, multi-media feeds that include images and video. The software also features a polling tool so that users can better engage their audience and get valuable, real time feedback.

There are also several monetization tools built-in to the Socialive software, including banner ads and video ads. A complete list of Socialive’s features is available at: http://socialive.me/features

And in the case that users don’t have a live event happening, they can use Socialive to automatically push out content from their website or Facebook Fan Page. Examples can be found on the Socialive events page (http://socialive.me/events) and Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/socialive).

“What we wanted to do was make live blogging more comprehensive and give live bloggers a way to drive traffic back to their own websites or Facebook fan pages, and this is what we’ve done,” added Sean Rosenthal “The Socialive application not only transforms social media communications into interactive dialogues, it also allows user to also monetize these conversation through of advertising revenue.”

About Socialive Media

Socialive is a Toronto-based company that offers a web-based application that elevates the live event experience through the use of social media tools. The platform also leverages live blogging, tweeting and chatting to allow people attending or following an event remotely to be actively involved in the excitement.

New Website for ?Infrequent Golfers? Launched by golfersadvice.com

New Website for ‘Infrequent Golfers’ Launched by golfersadvice.com

Golf Fuel

Austin, TX. (PRWEB) November 15, 2011

After focusing exclusively on the enthusiast golf market for the last several years, golfersadvice.com has announced the launch of a new website targeting “very infrequent golfers.”

“While the average golfing enthusiast plays about 20 rounds a year, the vast majority of golfers manage to only squeeze in between five and seven rounds of golf in an entire year,” said new projects editor Mark Dunn, formally of the Golf Tips Magazine Publishing Group. “We felt this was a significant segment of the golfing audience that has been virtually ignored by mainstream publications and websites until now.”

Dunn believes that the economic downturn, along with today’s hectic lifestyles, have chipped away at the number of rounds people get to play each year. “In today’s world, most parenting couples have trouble finding time for each other, let alone carving out five or six hours on the weekend to play a round of golf. And that’s what this new website is all about – a fast-read, online destination for golfers who basically have no time for golf.”

While Dunn says the new website will share many similarities with its consumer golfersadvice.com counterpart, including new products, golf tips, and selected event results – the site will also differ in several important ways.

“The vast majority of our readers follow the sport in a very limited way,” he said. “They watch the majors, but don’t even think about swinging a golf club, or buying a golf tips magazine, unless they’ve been invited to participate in a company tournament, or our going on vacation. Our goal is to quickly bring the infrequent golfer up to speed on the sport, while providing them with a number of two-minute instructional videos designed to serve as quick refresher tips before their event.”

For Greg Steven, a software engineer in Southern California, a website for infrequent golfers makes perfect sense. “Honestly, I don’t even think about golf until some type of tournament comes up at work,” said Steven, who has four kids and precious little time for golf. “I literally have to ‘dig out’ my golf clubs from out from under a stack of boxes in my garage. They’ve been sitting there that long, that some of my golf balls have literally turned yellow.”

Stevens says he appreciates a website that quickly catches him up on the game so he speak intelligently on the subject at a company event. “I want to get caught up without having to wade through tons of stories and advertising,” he said. “For me, a couple of good tips and a bit of golf news is all I need.”

Dun believes that infrequent golfers are an important part of the golf industry, despite the limited amount of money they spend on the sport. “However, they’re also at a distinct disadvantage when they finally do get out to golf, and often worried about embarrassing themselves on the course due to a lack of practice,” he says. “That’s why we have a number of short, two-minute instructional videos to serve as mini-refresher courses that cover the basic fundamentals and simple swing thoughts.”

Infrequent golfers can visit http://golfersadvice.com/197/golf-tips-magazine.html for free videos and eBooks tailored for the casual golfer.

Res-JUVENTA looks at New Study Revealing the Health Benefits of Resveratrol and it’s Effect on Cholesterol and Metabolism.

Res-JUVENTA looks at New Study Revealing the Health Benefits of Resveratrol and it’s Effect on Cholesterol and Metabolism.

New York (PRWEB) November 17, 2011

A study commissioned by Cell Metabolism (Nov. 2 issue) evidencing the benefits of nutritional supplementation found that resveratrol , an ingredient found in Res-JUVENTA, acted much like a low-calorie diet in terms of reducing energy expenditure and improving metabolism and overall health. Additional changes included a lower metabolic rate, reduced fat in the liver, lower blood pressure and lower blood sugar.

The benefits seem to be promising when it comes to lowering bad cholesterol and initial results have shown that it may be good for the heart. Outlined are the benefits of resveratrol based on initial studies of resveratrol:

Antioxidant benefits: The term “antioxidant” appears almost every day as consumers search for things that will help achieve improved health. Resveratrol has been purported to contain antioxidants, which neutralize the effects of free radicals in the body. These free radicals are extremely toxic and harmful once they bind with the cells in the body. Once antioxidants bind with the free radicals, the effects are neutralized, and they are released from the body as toxins.

Reduce cholesterol: Resveratrol comes from the red wine fermentation of grape skins left in the process for an extended period of time. It is said that it prevents blood vessel plaque from forming thus avoiding clogging of the arteries. Clogging in arteries and veins can cause heart attacks.

There are two kinds of cholesterol namely – good (HDL or high density lipoprotein) and bad (LDL or low density lipoprotein). Resveratrol has been found to lower the bad cholesterol concentration in the blood as previously mentioned.

Prevent clotting: Health benefits that resveratrol provides is prevention of clots from forming in arteries and veins thus avoiding the formation of thromboembolism, which will result strokes or cardiovascular accidents.

In addition to the health benefits, many people find resveratrol helpful for aesthetic purposes because it claims to slow down the process of aging which often manifests itself in skin and complexion. Res-Juventa is the proven dietary supplement featuring Resveratrol naturally harvested from the Spanish Blue Grape with a powerful 4803 units of ORAC. Resveratrol is one of the key elements in Res-JUVENTA. Res-JÜVENTA allows you to take advantage of benefits of Spanish red wine without having to deal with the issues of alcohol.

Res-JÜVENTA provides you with a daily dose of antioxidant which, in combination with balanced nutrition, is widely considered by many to cover the daily need to limit the cell damage caused by free radicals, while helping to keep artery walls flexible, an important part of circulatory system well being.
